How to talk to an INTJ
The Architect: strategic, private, allergic to inefficiency. Probably already three steps into evaluating your idea.
What works
Conclusion first, then reasoning. Competence signals — precise language, anticipated objections, realistic trade-offs. Written over verbal for anything substantial; they want to think before responding. Respect autonomy: define the outcome, not the method.
What backfires
Small talk before substance. Appeals to emotion or consensus ("everyone's excited about this"). Vague asks. Surprise meetings that could have been a paragraph. Repeating yourself — they heard you the first time and are still deciding.
Example
Instead of: "Hey! Hope you're well! I'd love to get your thoughts sometime on an exciting idea…"
Try: "Proposal: switch our reporting to X. It saves ~6 hours a week; the main risk is Y, mitigated by Z. Details below — keen for your critique by Friday."
