How to talk to an ENFP

What works
Genuine connection first — one real sentence, not a formality. Frame the request around meaning and impact ("this gets the team to…"), not process. Leave space for their ideas; a rigid script reads as distrust. Enthusiasm is data to them: if you're flat, they wonder what's wrong.
What backfires
Cold bullet-point directives. Criticism without care — it lands twice as hard as you meant. Detail-dumps up front. Shutting down tangents abruptly; their tangents are often where the good idea lives.
Example
Instead of: "Per my last email, the deliverable is overdue. Please advise ETA."
Try: "Hey — I know this week's been a lot. The deck's the one thing blocking the launch we've both been building toward; can we land it by Thursday? Shout if something's in the way."
